Griffin 's brilliance as a man of science fades before his darker traits as he was really a very good scientist as he had discovered a medicine that can make a person invisible but instead of using his brilliance in science for the good of people or community he had harmed the people like he had killed the shopkeeper and he had stolen things and even set his landlord's house on fire in order to revenge from him . This all clearly shows that he had not used his talent or mind for the welfare of other but for the loss of other and therefore his darker traits are presented more .
