Versatile nature of CARBON : (i)CATENATION :- the property of self-linking of atoms of an element through covalent bond in order to form long branch , cyclic or ring chain (ii) TETRAVALENCY :- carbon has 4 electron in outer most shell so carbon can form single bond , double bond and triple bond with other element as well as own atoms
