It gave the government autocratic powers to repress political activities besides allowing it to detain political prisoners without a trial, for two years. The Indian were outraged by this act as it was clearly undemocratic and oppressive, and hurt national sentiments and dignity

Rowlatt act was humilating act to Indians as because it has hiden the promises given by britishers for bieng a helpful part in world war in the form of physical army the promise was that they will give us searaj when we will sacrifice oir physical force on world war on the behalf of britishers. As a result of their act Gandhiji started Rowlatt act satyagrah.
