Atmospheric refraction is the phenomenon of bending of light rays in the atmosphere. It is called as Atmospheric refraction because there are many layers for the atmosphere. When any sought of light enters the atmosphere it should experience the refraction by different layers. This process happens in the atmosphere. When this light reaches our eyes we doesn't see the apparent position of the way of light. Thus we can name this phenomena as Atmospheric Refraction. This is used by stars for twinkling, formation of rainbow etc....
