The easy experiment to demonstrate magnetic field lines is by the use of iron filings.

Place a bar magnet above a write paper on a table.
Using a compass mark the direction of the needle.
Spray iron filings on the paper and tap slightly.
Iron filings are arranged themselves in the same pattern as we drew.
These are the magnetic field lines.

Properties

Field lines form closed loops
They do not cross each other
Density of field lines reduces with increase in distance from the poles
