Relative refractive index : Relative refractive index is the ratio of the speed of light in the medium 1 to the speed of light in medium 2. The value of absolute refractive index may be greater than or less than unity.


Absolute Refractive Index : Absolute refractive index is the ratio of the speed of light in vaccum to the speed of light in the medium. The value of absolute refractive index is greater than unity.
