When the co-ordination compound is reacted with AgNO3 it liberates 2 moles of AgCl, which indicates 2 Cl- ions are outside the co-ordination sphere satisfying primary valence(+2).
- Remaining 6 H2O ligands will be inside the co-ordination sphere satisfying secondary valence (+6)
- Therefore, structural formula of the compound must be [Ni(H2O)6]Cl2.
