Hair has only two types of pigment : dark (eumelanin ) and light ( pheaomelanin) They blend together to make up a wide range of hair colours. Melanin is made up of special pigment cells called melanocytes. It is responsible for black hairs. Melanin is not only present in hair it is also present our skin which is responsible for changing of skin colour.

Hair color is determined by the amount of a pigment called melanin in hair. An abundance of one type of melanin, called eumelanin, gives people black or brown hair. An abundance of another pigment, called pheomelanin, gives people red hair.
