Sorry it was by mistakenly send while writing answer ....so answer is Sulphate hemihydrate is called plaster of paris because gypsum is a substance of calcium. It's chemical and chemical name is calcium sulphate hemihydrate. On heating it turns into white substance called POP or plaster of paris (400°c or 300°c)...
