1. It provides 100 days assured employment to every rural households.

2. Under the program, if an applicant is not provided employment within 15 daye he/she will be entitled to a daily employment allowance.

3. One third of the proposed jobs would be reserved for women.

4) The central government will establish a National Employment Guarantee Fund for Women and state governments will establish State Employment Guarantee Funds for implementation of the scheme.

6) The scheme is to be extended to 600 districts.
