The poet asks the rain to identify itself. Strangely the rain replies that it is the 'poem of the earth'. The rain describes how it is like a poet's song. The rain rises intangibly out of the sea and floats up to the sky, where it forms as a cloud. Then it falls back to earth in order to replenish it and allows new birth. Just like the rain is formed through seas, the song is formed in the poet's heart. Even though it changes form after leaving the poet's soul, it retains it's core and eventually returns to the poet through reader's love and appreciation.
