Gandhi ji withdrawn the non cooperation movement because First- the incident of chauri chaura in Gorakhpur,1922 because they attacked in police station. Second reason is that Gandhi ji felt that the movement was turning violent.

Gandhiji decided to withdraw the ‘Non-Cooperation Movement’ in February 1922 because of the following reasons :

  • In 1922, at Chauri-Chaura in Gorakhpur, a peaceful mob turned violent and clashed with the police resulting in the deaths of several policemen.
  • Gandhiji felt that the movement was turning violent and satyagrahis needed proper training before they were ready for a mass struggle.

Gandhiji decided to withdraw the non Cooperation movement because of the following three reason-:1) The non cooperation movement to violent in many places.2) To train the Satyagrahis for mass struggle. 3) Some of the congress leader were not willing to continue the non cooperation movement because they were by the mass struggle and they wanted to participate in the election council and they wanted to criticise the British by the council.
