Tangents drawn from am external point to a circle

are equal in length

so from the diagram we get

AH= AE; DH = DG; CG=CF
4−x=x y=2y−3
2x=4 y=3

x=2

As x=2 DH = 5 − AH = 5−(4−x) =3

as DH=DG DG=3

So Length of CD=CG+GD

=3+3=6
