The left half of the heart receives the oxygenated blood from the lungs, It pumps it through the aorta to the body tissues (excluding the lungs). The Deoxygenated blood from the various parts of the body returns to the right half of the heart, via the vena cava. This deoxygenated blood is carried to the lungs for oxygenation through the pulmonary artery. It is then pumped to the heart via the pulmonary vein for circulation to various tissues.
