  1. Work done is defined as product of the force and the distance over which the force is applied. Work is done when a force is applied to an object and the object is moved through a distance
  2. Energy is the capacity or power to do work such as the capacity to move an object (of a given mass) by the application of force.
  3. Power is the amount of energy put out or produced in a given amount of time.
  4. 1 Watt : A body is said to have power of 1 watt if it does work at the rate of 1 joule in 1 s.  i.e. 1 W = 1 J/ 1 S
  5. One joule is defined as the amount of energy exerted when a force of one newton is applied over a displacement of one meter.
  6. One kilowatt-hour is defined as the energy consumed by power consumption of 1kW during 1 hour. 1 kWh = 3.6·106 J
  7. the law of conservation of energy states that the totalenergy of an isolated system remains constant—it is said to be conserved over time. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it transforms from one form to another.
  8. Gravitational potential energy is energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitationalfield. The most common use of gravitational potential energy is for an object near the surface of the Earth where the gravitational acceleration can be assumed to be constant at about 9.8 m/s2
