MAHATMA Gandhi decided to withdraw the Non-Cooperation Movement, as he felt that the movement was turning violent in many places. Satyagrahis needed to be properly trained before they would be ready for mass struggle. Satyagrahis needed to be properly trained before they would be ready for mass struggle. Within the Congress, some leaders were by now tried of mass struggle and wanted to participate in elections to the provincial councils. They felt that it was important to oppose British policies within the councils. Younger leaders pressed for more radical mass agitation and for full independence.

On 5th February 1992 , when participants were protesting against British govt. In chauri chaura town of gorukpur district of uttar pradesh , British police attached on those people died to this participants become violent and they burn the police station of chauri chaura . In this incident 22 police man were burnt . When gandhi ji knew about this incident ,he withdrew the non cooperation movement because gandhi ji want to launch non violent movement .
