In a bulleted list each new entry is identified by a "bullet" - often a small circular symbol - to the left of the list entry.
Eg:
- These
- are
- bullets
In a numbered list this is replaced by a number, in sequential order.
Eg:
1. This
2. is
3. a
4. numbered
5. list
