In common terms, the "Urban" includes Towns, Cities, and Bigger cities. In urban areas, the local government is organized as Municipal Corporation, Municipality, and Nagar Panchayats.

Among the three Municipal corporations is in topmost position in the local government. It receives a major share of finance which has been allocated to the local government. It controls the areas in which population is more than 2-3 lakhs.

Municipality and Nagar Panchayats are in charge of areas with population ranging from 20000 to 100000. It has separate wards and members for this body, which were elected five years once. "
