Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an Indian social reformer and freedom activist. His famous declaration “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it” served as an inspiration for future revolutionaries during India’s struggle for freedom. Tilak founded the All India Home Rule League in 1916 with Annie Besant whose motto was self-government within the British Empire for all of India.
