Here,
1 metric ton = 1000 kg
So, 90 metric ton = 90×103 kg
m = 9×104 kg
h = 200 m
g = 9.8 ms-2
Time taken = 1 hr = 3600 s
The potential energy of a mass m raised to a height h = mgh
Now to raise a mass 9×104 kg to a height 200 m we must do work equal to the potential energy of the mass at 200 m.
Potential energy of mass at 200 m = mgh= 9×104×9.8×200 Joule
So, work done must be = 9×104×9.8×200 Joule
Again we know power P = work done / time taken
P = 9×104×9.8×200/3600 = 49000 watt. or 49 kW
