Suppose one number is X,
And another be Y.
By first condition,
X+Y=16………….(1)
By second condition,
X-Y =18………….(2)
Adding both the equation,
X+Y=16
+X -Y=18
…………….
2x =34 (y,-y get cancelled)
X=17.
Substitute x=17 in (1),
17+y=16
Y=16–17
Y= -1
(x=17,y=-1).
