Incorrect DNA copying or DNA replication during cell division can severly affect the reproduction process. Hence DNA is responsible for every activity from dna copying to protein formation. If protein failed to fold due to mutation then several neurodegenrative disease can occur. Incorrect DNA copying can lead to variations. In this proteins formed are different from the parent and this results in the change in characters in the offspring. This is only due to these variations that evolution occurs.
