The eye can focus on an object situated at different distances by changing the tension in its ciliary muscles. When muscles are relaxed, the eye lens becomes thin and its focal length increases and distant object can be seen clearly. While looking at nearby objects the ciliary muscles contract, the lens becomes thick, short and its focal length decreases.
