Depositional coastal landforms, in both marine and lacustrine settings, contain various accretionary and erosional elements that are created through the interaction of wind, wave, tidal, riverine, and/or other geologic processes. It can create unique landforms, such as wave-cut cliffs, sea arches, and sea stacks. Deposits by waves include beaches. They may shift along the shoreline due to longshore drift. Other wave deposits are spits, sand bars, and barrier islands. Coastal landforms are created by waves and include stacks, stumps, caves, arches, bays, coves, beaches and cliffs. ... The waves start hitting the bottom of what will become the cliff and cause erosion there, cutting away a hole or notch. The upper rock eventually collapses, forming a cliff.
