The two main causes that led to the conquest of India by Mahmud Ghazni was

Firstly, to accumulate the huge volume of wealth that subsisted in India, and

Secondly, he wanted to spread Islam in India.

Mahmud Ghazni's attackers were consists of fast-moving cavalry, while the Indian armies were chiefly of elephants due to which it was easy for Ghazni to raid India seventeen times.
