When acid reacts with metal oxide to form salt and water. Example- 1. CopperII to oxide is a metal oxide. Dilute hydrochloric acid with copper to oxide to give copper to chloride and water Cup + HCl (dil.) -- Cucl2 + H2O 2. When sodium oxide reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid to form sodium chloride +water Na20 +HCl (dil.) --Na2cl + H20
