Lions are carnivorous they eat flesh of another animal. Meat are not tough to digest.meat are generally composed of protein and fat the intestine of the lion feel with enzyme which are capable of digesting that protein and fats so the end lions doesn't need a large intestine to digest that simple protein and fat but the deer eat up plants they are tough to digest as they are composed of cellulose which is tough to digest so the intestine of the deer are much longer than that of the lion.
