Consistent Equations. - If we get a solution, then the pair of linear equations in two variables is called consistent equations. Inconsistent Equations - If we do not get a solution, then the pair of linear equations in two variables is called inconsistent equations. Consistent (dependent) Equations - If a system has at least one solution, it is said to be consistent . If a consistent system has exactly one solution, it is independent . If a consistent system has an infinite number of solutions, it is dependent  . When you graph the equations, both equations represent the same line. Coincidence lines - If two lines  are coincident then, they have infinite solution and pair of linear equations is consistent; If two lines are intersecting then, they have unique solution and pair of linear equations is consistent.
