A pen stand masmde of wood is in the shape of a cuboid with four conical depressions to hold pens. The dimensions of the cuboid are 15 cm by 10 cm by 3.5 cm. The radius of each of the depressions is 0.5 cm and the depth is 1.4 cm. Find the volume of the wood in the entire stand.

Given :
Cuboid
Length (l)= 15cm,
Breadth (b)= 10cm ,
Height (h)= 3.5cm.

Cone (3)
Radius (r) = 0.5cm ,
depth = height of the cone(h) = 1.4cm.

Required to solve : Volume of the entire stand = ?
Volume of the entire stand = Volume of the cuboid - 3*Volume of the cone.
=>(l*b*h) - 3*[1/3*pi* r^2* h]
=>(15*10*3.5) - 3*[1/3* 22/7* 0.5* 0.5* 1.4]
=>525 - 3*[1/3* 22* 0.050]
=>525 - 3*[1/3* 1.1
=>525 - 3/3* 1.1
=>525 - 1* 1.1
=>525 - 1.1 = 523.9 cu.cm
