When water is formed from the reaction of hydrogen gas and oxygen gas ; it is said to be combination reaction as single product is formed when two or more substances react together.... H2+O2=H2O When water is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen gas it is said to it to be decomposition reaction since electricity is being passed in the reaction it is known as electrolytic decomposition reaction as two or more substances are being decomposed from one substance. H20=H2+O2
