To prove: ar(ABC)/ar(DBC) =OA/ OD First of all we have to do construction. Draw two perpendiculars AP& DM on Bc Proof : In ∆ ABC & ∆ DCB Area of ∆ Abc÷Area of∆ Dcb= 1/2 × BC×AP÷1/2 × BC × DM Area of∆ Abc/ Area of∆ Dcb= AP/DM.......(1) Now, In ∆Aop & ∆ Dom Angle p = Angle M( due to 90°) angle Aop= angle Dom( V.O.A) ∆ AOP~ ∆ DOM( A.A criteria) Ap/ DM= OP/ OM = AO/DO AP/DM= AO/DO....(2) So from 1 & 2 we can say that ar(ABC)/ar(DBC)= OA/DO I hope that it will help you!
