After the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia, they ordered the redistribution of land among the peasants. As a result, many soldiers left army to go to their villages. There were many people in the country who did not support the Bolsheviks. During this period (1918-19), the ‘greens’ who were the socialist revolutionaries and the ‘whites’ who were the supporters of the Tsarist regime were in control of the most of the Russian empire. These two groups were supported by France, America, Britain and Japan as they did not want socialism to expand in Russia. Thus, wars between the Bolsheviks and the ‘greens’ and the ‘whites’ broke resulting into looting, arson and banditry.
