Given, x= √2-1 so, 1/x = 1/√2-1 (rationalise) =1/√2-1*√2+1/√2+1 =√2+1/((√2)^2-(1)^2 {(a+b)(a-b)=a^2-b^2} =√2+1/2-1 =√2+1/1 =√2+1 (1/x) Again, xsquare+1/xsquare= x^2+(1/x)^2 =(√2-1)^2 + (√2+1)^2 ={(√2)^2+(1)^2-2*√2*1} +{(√2)^2+(1)^2+2*√2*1} ={2+1-2√2}+{2+1+2√2} =3-2√2+3+2√2 =6+0 =6 Hence, xsquare+1/xsquare=6 Do you satisfied to my given answer????
