The numerator of a fraction is four less than its denominator.If 1 is added to both,it's numerator and denominator,the fraction becomes 1/2.Find the fraction.

    It is given that the the numerator is 4 less than its denominator. This means the the denominator is greater than the the numerator by 4. So, let the numerator be 'x'...... therefore denominator=x+4....... So, x\x+4=1\2... By cross multiplication, 2*x=1*(x+4)........ 2x=x+4..... So, 2x-x=4...... So, x=4............. So, the fraction is 4\8....(As it was given, denominator exceeds the numerator by 4)
