Thermal decomposition, or thermolysis, is a chemicaldecomposition caused by heat. The decompositiontemperature of a substance is the temperature at which the substance chemically decomposes. The reaction is usually endothermic as heat is required to break chemical bonds in the compound undergoing decomposition.
