According to Remainder Theorem, if a polynomial f(x) is divided by ( x - a), then f(a) will be the remainder.

f(x) = 8x⁴ - 8x² + 7 and a = -1/2

f(-1/2) = 8(-1/2)⁴ - 8(-1/2)² + 7

= 8 x (1/16) - 8 x (1/4) + 7

= 1/2 - 2 + 7

= 1/2 + 5

= 11/2
