3x + y -11=0........... (i)

x - y -1=0

x = y + 1 ............ (ii)

Substitute (ii) in (i), we get

3(y+ 1) + y - 11 =0

3y + 3 + y - 11 =0

4y - 8 =0

4y = 8

y = 8/2 =4

Put y = 4 in (ii) , we get

x = y + 1

x= 5
