Parents are often strict with their kids to teach them life lessons.

Explanation:

They do that so that their kids can learn how to spend a life.
For instance, in the story The First Flight the seagull was afraid of flying.
His family members and parents tried hard but failed.
So they left him alone for 24 hours without any food so that he could fly in search of food.
