The Lahore session was of great in the Indian national movement for Independence. It was in this session that Purna swaraj was declared as India's goal. The leaders aimed for nothing but complete independence. This session also formed an important cause for the civil disobedience movement. The Congress session held at Lahore in 1929 was significant because it was in this session of the Indian National Congress, the resolution of Poorna Swaraj or complete independence was taken up. Jawaharlal Nehru became the president of congress at the historic Lahore session 1929. Congress passed the resolution of purna swaraj complete independence on 31st December the newly adapted tri colour flag was unfurled. 26th January 1931 was fixed to be first independence day which was to be celebrated by people. There was an announcement of another major mass movement under Gandhi ji called civil disobedience movement.
