    first gothrough the given lens nature and those laws even sign conventiion tooo.........then draw the lens/mirror ......then oject where to be placed........ then at last the ray diagrams with marking positions and soon..........

    If you are well known with Law of reflections/refraction and reflected/refracted ray form curved surfaces, you'll face no such confusion.. Best way is to go through these basics
