It all started with the famous Big Bang Theory. It is supposed that at that time all the the matter particles and anti particles were concentrated at a single point which was highly dense with high temp. Now due to reaction between particles and anti - particles there was a huge explosion and a big sound was produced. ( that might seem odd that how sound was produced in vacuum but Yrr thats hypothetical and this was not known at the time when theory was given.) This huge explosion turned some energy into matter which got converted into stars, planets or galaxies while some energy remained unconverted like lightning and heat. Now coming to our solar system matter got converted into sun and planets. We know that major source of energy for us is Sun. Heat from sun is used to run turbines converting into mechanical energy and also in solar plant converting heat into electricity. We use electricity for lighting the bulbs (energy gets converted into light and heat) this energy gets dissipated into environment and environment gets heated provides energy for reactions and this cycle never ends. This is how energy neither can be created nor be destroyed and how it originated. However it is still unknown that what was in universe before Big Bang.
