Planning is the function of determining in advance what is to be done and who is to do it. There are four functions of management that span across all industries. They include: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Good managers discover how to master five basic functions: planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. Planning: This step involves mapping out exactly how to achieve a particular goal.
