Elections to the Lok Sabha and each Vidhan Sabha are carried out using a first-past-the-post electoral system. For each constituency, the electors can cast their vote for a single candidate (of their choice), the winner being the candidate who gets the most votes.  A person must be at least 25 years old to be the member of the National Assembly or to be Mayor or Governor.

Elections keep a democratic country functioning, as they give people the right to select their own government. Electronic Voting Machine (also known as EVM ) is voting using electronic means to either aid or take care of the chores of casting and counting votes. An EVM is designed with two units: the control unit and the balloting unit.
