Phototropism is the movement of shoot towards the light source and roots away from the light source. In shoot it takes place due to high concentration of auxin the plant hormone on the side away from light. This promotes cell elongation on the lady side of the shoot this leads to growth of the shoot and thus bending towards the light source

Riya Verma 7 years, 7 months ago

Phototropism is the growth of an organism which responds to a light stimulus. It is most often observed in plants, but can also occur in other organisms such as fungi. The cells on the plant that are farthest from the light have a chemical called auxin that reacts when phototropism occurs.
