Alpha decay is a part of Radioactivity disintegration. As you know, (Alpha, beta, gamma) rays are originated from Radioactivity. Definition of Alpha Decay- When any Alpha particle is emitted from any source then it's number of protons (Atomic Number) is decreased by 2 unit, and there is no any further change in their mass number(A). For an example:-- Uranium(Z=92,A=238) decay into---------- Thallium (Z=90,A=234) + Helium (Z=2,A=4). Or Metal A (Z,A) decays---- Metal A (Z--2, A).
