d = –3, n = 18, an=-5

We need to find a here.

Using formula an= a+(n-1)d

Putting values of d,an and n, we get ,

–5 = a + (18 – 1) (–3)

⇒ −5 = + (17) (−3)

⇒ −5 = – 51
⇒ = 46
