The tendency of metals to lose electrons inorder to get stability is called electropositive nature of metals. In general most of the metals lose electrons from their valence shell due to weak force of attraction on the outermost shell. Metals like Na, Mg,Fe, Zn lose electrons and form positively charged ion. Due to this metals are called electropositive elements. Metals are called electro positive elements because metals have a higher tendency to loose electrons. when an element loose electron it gains positive charge.
