In computer programming languages, indentation is used to format program source code to improve readability. Indentation is generally only of use to programmers; compilers and interpreters rarely care how much whitespace is present in between programming statements. The readability of code is highly important when writing programs. ... Indentation can be used to separate blocks of code such as selection statements and loops; thus making them easier to locate and read. Indentation and line spacing can also improve the structure of a program also making it easier to read.
