Read from the beginning. Literally. First page first, first line first and so on. Try to understand the subject matter and don't rush through the text. Use highlighter to mark the important point. Discuss with the teachers in topics you are facing difficulty. Once you complete a chapter, don't leave it to move ahead. Revise it regularly using your notes along with reading next chapters.
