The standard meridian of India is 82.5 degrees east of the Greenwich Meridian. This meridian passes through the city of Allahabad. It runs through the center of the country. In 1905, this longitude was selected as the meridian to create the Indian Standard Time. The 82degree 30' East longitude is taken asStandard Time Meridian of India, as it passes through the middle of India(Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh). Indian Standard Time: GMT + 05:30. Answer: "82.5 degree east" to the Greenwich Meridian is the longitude that serves as the "Standard meridian of India".
